Portola is an annual music festival that debuted in 2022 located in San Francisco, California. I was tasked to rebrand an existing event in which I chose Portola. I completely revamped the Portola word mark and created three separate touch-points/advertisements in relation to Portola Music Festival.

To began this project, I worked on creating an identity of the festival itself by finalizing a word mark, style, and color palette. Below are my initial sketches for my word mark where at this point I was trying different styles of type and design elements together to best fit the Portola "feel".

After my first round of sketches on paper, I moved to my computer to create a following round of word marks completely digitally using inspiration from my sketches and suggestions from my peers and professor.

As I finalized my word mark, what I had in mind was something that would be memorable, legible, and not too complicated. With Portola being located in San Francisco, it only felt right to incorporate a red and yellow color palette. Below are examples of my final Portola word mark in its early stages before I added more to and with it.

With the identity of Portola completely reimagined I was ready to create my three different touch points. The first one is an instagram promotion post that is shown here below, which advertises the date, location and performers a part of the festival.

The next touchpoint is a flyer or schedule that would be handed out during the festival, which informs festival-goers of the time and stage location of each performer.

The last touchpoint is a billboard advertisement for Portola, which would simply be displayed along freeways or busy intersections to help promote Portola Music Festival within the months leading up to it.
