For this assignment I was to first choose an LP cover and redesign it conceptually using photography and type. I chose the album, "The House is Burning" by American rapper Isaiah Rashad. My final redesign is here below in which I photographed an assortment of burnt sheets of paper in the form of a house for the front cover. In addition, for the back cover, I incorporated the burnt sheets of papers along with ashes and burn marks in a structure to characterize the tracklist and record label.

PROCESS
To start this project off I began sketching. Heading into this project I had a general idea of what I wanted to accomplish regarding the concept of burnt papers. However, I didn't know how I wanted to layout these burnt papers so I brainstormed and came up with these rough ideas below:

Next, I began taking photographs of both my front and back covers. Shown below are the original, raw photographs used for my final LP.
For the front cover, my idea was to use five sheets of paper with each one having its edge burnt off and laying them out to form a "house" in the middle.
On the other side, the back cover included two sheets of papers with burnt edges on opposite sides laid on top of another sheet of paper with ashes and burn marks.

After determining that I was to move forward with the photos above I cropped them into the square outline and edited them to what they appear as below:

With my photographs cropped and edited, I felt ready to add the album information to finalize my LP. Before I added the type, I cleaned up and added some warmer tones to my photographs. With everything completed I concluded my LP redesign as shown below:
